Hong-Kong, 14th. December, 1898.
With reference to previous correspondence and
the consideration of your case by His Excellency the Governor
in Council this morning I am directed to inform you with re-
gret that after due consideration of your previous services
His Excellency with the advice of the Council has decided that
you be suspended from office.
Your case will be reported by next mail to the
Secretary of State for the Colonies and you will be recommend-
ed for dismissal from the Public Service.
In the meantime and pending the receipt of in-
structions from the Secretary of State His Excellency the Go-
vernor with the advice of the Executive Council, has been plea-
sed to grant you an alimentary allowance at the rate of $120
per mensem, and you are required to vacate the Government quar-
ters presently occupied by you as soon as you can conveniently
make other arrangements.
I am to add that His Excellency is prepared to
advance you alimentary allowance at the above rate for one and
